The Indigenous People of Igbo Nation for South-East Self-Determination (IPINS) and the Igbo-Biafra Nationalists (IBN) commend the courageous and patriotic declaration made by Dr. Haruna Goroh, a respected citizen and voice of conscience from Northern Nigeria, who has boldly called on Northerners and indeed all Nigerians of goodwill to rally behind Mr. Peter Obi—an illustrious son of the South-East and the most credible candidate for the Nigerian presidency in 2027.
In an era where truth is often buried beneath ethnic sentiments and political manipulation, Dr. Goroh’s fearless outcry—“All of us Northerners MUST team up behind Obi”—serves as a powerful reminder that justice, equity, and competence must take precedence if Nigeria is to survive as a united entity.
Dr. Goroh’s remarks highlight a long-standing injustice: since 1999, the South-East region has never been given the opportunity to lead Nigeria. Despite our contributions to the nation’s development and unity, the Igbos have been systematically marginalized and excluded from the nation’s highest political office. This marginalization must stop.
We are aware that the North-East region, represented by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has also not produced a president. However, the South-East case is not just one of political absence; it is one of consistent, institutional exclusion and open hostility from the Nigerian state. In this context, the call for Igbo presidency is not just about politics—it is about justice, healing, and fairness.
Let it be clearly stated: Mr. Peter Obi is not an Igbo candidate; he is the Nigerian candidate for all who desire competence, integrity, and a functional country. He is the only viable opposition figure with the proven record and public trust to rescue Nigeria from the catastrophic leadership of the current administration.
Dr. Goroh rightly called on Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to step down for Mr. Obi and allow him to lead the coalition against the failed APC government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We fully align with this position. Nigeria cannot afford another term of pain, economic decay, insecurity, and division. The evidence is clear—Tinubu has destroyed Nigeria and plunged her into unprecedented suffering.
We reiterate:
- The time for an Igbo presidency is now.
- Peter Obi remains the most credible and acceptable candidate.
- Any true coalition to rescue Nigeria must be led by Peter Obi.
- Those supporting Atiku against Obi are indirectly rooting for Tinubu’s continuity.
We urge Nigerians across all regions, especially the oppressed youths, workers, women, and victims of insecurity, to rally behind this national call for equity. Dr. Haruna Goroh’s appeal must not go unheard—it is the voice of a patriot and a call for national salvation.
Let the 2027 elections mark a turning point. Let it be the year Nigeria chooses justice. Let it be the year Nigeria chooses competence. Let it be the year Nigeria chooses Peter Obi.
